Radiology Technologist

Produces radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Takes care to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation. Requires an associate's degree from an accredited program and registration as a technologist by the A.R.R.T. Poses knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the radiology field. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.

Mammography Technologist
Operates X-ray equipment to perform various mammography related procedures. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Explains procedures and educates women about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining records and files, and cleaning and adjusting equipment as needed. Requires an associate's degree from an accredited program and registration as a technologist by the A.R.R.T. and is certified in Diagnostic Mammography. Poses knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the radiology field. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.

Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs. Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed. Requires a two year allied health degree, successful completion of an approved one-year program in Ultrasound Technology, and at least 2 years of experience in the field. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.

Performs ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disorders affecting the circulation. May perform therapeutic procedures, such as pseudoaneurysm compression. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results.
